At the end of June, 2016, Dr David Leach & family returned to Savusavu in the Fiji islands to conduct another charity Chiropractic clinic. David & Beth have been returning to this community 2-3 times per year since 2013, offering free Chiropractic and lifestyle coaching. Our latest visit was post-Cyclone Winston, the largest recorded cyclone to hit land in the southern hemisphere. As we flew in across the top of the town, the devastation was evident with numerous of our favourite rain trees snapped off. Our friends from Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort and the Nukubalavu village had already done an amazing job of cleaning up, and were continuing the rebuilding process. We asked Helen Regan, assistant manager at Cousteau what we could bring over to help in rebuild the community. She didn’t hesitate, telling us that roofing screws were in insufficient supply, and were too expensive for local families to afford. With the help of our good friends Garth Hudson and Ross Fyfe from Buildex, we have managed to send nearly 2.5 tonnes of roofing screws to the Savusavu Community Foundation. The local community will now be able re-roof their homes and schools properly and resist strong winds in the future. Thank you Buildex for your amazing generosity – this will make an incredible difference to peoples lives!
